Google driverless cars ‘safer than humans’

Google claims that its driverless cars are now safer than human motorists, after analysing testing data gathered over thousands of experimental miles of assessment. The Internet search giant has been developing its controversial autonomous cars for several years, adapting a fleet of 10 vehicles – including six Toyota Prius hybrids, three Lexus RX450h off-roaders and an Audi TT – to drive by themselves. The new model due in 2010 will nudge the most famous of luxury brands downmarket nearer upper-echelon Merc S-classes, but the 49-year-old chief exec won't be around to see the launch of the landmark model.The baby Rolls-RoyceThe Phantom family has now grown to three models, after the Coupe was unveiled at this month's Geneva Motor Show to join the Drophead Coupe. Hyundai issues recalls for faulty brake switch, loose bracket

Hyundai is recalling 186,254 Elantra vehicles from model years 2011-2013 to replace a support bracket on the headliner. Hyundai says the bracket can be dislodged during a side-curtain-airbag deployment and could injure the driver. In a crash in May, an occupant’s ear was cut when the driver’s side curtain airbag deployed.
